Reishi Extract

Known in ancient times as the 10,000 years mushroom, or the mushroom of immortality, and perhaps the most revered “herb” in the Chinese medicinal canon. The three characters for the Chinese name for Reishi – Ling zhi – together mean “shaman”, “praying for”, and “rain”.

Where to start…. Reishi is a powerful mushroom, with a diverse biochemistry, making it difficult to summarise its myriad benefits! It has been implicated in managing stress (adaptogenic), improving sleep, and modulating the immune system. Immune system “modulation” refers to the ability of Reishi (and other medicinal mushrooms) to both stimulate and supress the immune system in a responsive way. In this way, Reishi can bolster the immune system whilst also decreasing inflammation that is often caused by an overactive immune response.

In traditional Eastern systems of medicine, it has been used for liver and kidney conditions, lung ailments, nerve pain, hypertension, and insomnia to name but a few. Its use dates back at least 4 millennia, and is one of the better studied medicinal mushrooms.

Cordyceps Extract

The medicinal use of Cordyceps is thought to date back many centuries if not millennia. Tales are told of observant herdsmen on the high plains of Tibet noticing their yaks eating Cordyceps before the rutting season… and there began the long history of human consumption of Cordyceps.

Celebrated for its energizing attributes, research indicates that Cordyceps may alleviate fatigue, enhance athletic prowess, boost sexual vitality, and augment endurance. Further investigations have explored its promising potential as an anti-cancer agent, immune system modulator, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory remedy.

Here at The Fungi Folks we have been honing our cultivation of this amazing fungi. It is grown on organic substrates here at the farm and brings you the a great Corcyceps medicinal tincture to complete your set.

Lion's Mane Extract

The Japanese name for Lion´s mane – yamabushitake – refers to the hermit Buddhist monks of Shugendo sect, whose ornamental garments are said to resemble the mushroom… It has been eaten and used medicinally in the East for centuries, and we are just beginning to understand its potential now in the West.

Much of the current interest around Lion´s mane is due to its effect on the brain and nervous system. Modern research has focused on its utility in cognitive function, support to mental clarity, concentration and productivity. Compounds unique to the Lions mane family known as hericenones and erinacenes have been shown to stimulate nerve growth factor (NGF) production. Hence it has been donned “brain food”! Interestingly, when the mushrooms are young, they are pink in colour and resemble little brains…

In traditional Eastern systems of medicine however, Lion´s mane was always used as a gut medicine – treating gastritis, gut cancers, gastric ulcers, general debility, etc. rather than for its cognitive benefit. As we continue to understand the intimate connection between the brain and gut, we realise that the traditional and modern approaches may not be so distinct!

So go ahead and get our Lions Mane medicinal tincture, made from Lion’s Mane grown here organically, at the farm.

1 review for Reishi, Cordyceps, and Lion’s Mane

  1. DaveFF

I have tried all 3 of these and I do get a noticeable impact. I have a condition called Giant Cell Arteritis and I can certainly feel my symptoms a bit more when I don’t take my reishi. I am probably a bit biased being Ben’s dad, but I am grateful for being able to access these tinctures/extracts. I think the Lion’s Mane also helps. The thing I noticed was that I never used to be able to remember the 6 digit codes that you get when signing into various things …but I can now!
